Jeff, I think you are using JNDI provided by Tyrex. Tyrex is transaction
manager itself so it seems like doen't makes too much sense replace part of
it with JoTM and leave the other part in. Thats the same issue I am dealing
with Jetty, You integrate Tomcat/Jetty with JoTM/Carol or you integrate it
with Tyrex.

Configuration of CAROL for JOTM
02/07/2003 09:00 AM
Hi,
I'm currently trying to integrate JOTM with Tomcat based on the Tomcat JNDI
Resources HOW-TO[1]
I've some trouble with CAROL and I'd like to have your point of view about
it.
First, I'm only interested to support RMI/JRMP protocol.
AFAIK, CAROL relies on JNDI properties to configure itself. CAROL
configuration tries to find them
either in a jndi.properties or in its own carol.properties, right?
The thing is that Tomcat does not have such a jndi.properties (to me, JNDI
configuration in Tomcat
is a blackbox!).
So CAROL configuration is (rightfully) complaining that it does not find
the configuration files.
And I'm not keen to provide a jndi.properties file for Tomcat...
Howver it doesn't prevent JOTM to work.
If I removed the system properties from JOTM that are needed to use CAROL,
there's no more problem
(in that case I'm directly using JNDI's Tomcat).
So there's two possibilities to make JOTM work with Tomcat:
o switch off CAROL (i.e. remove CAROL system properties) in JOTM
o ensure that if CAROL cannot be properly configured, let JOTM use "direct"
JNDI
I'm not fond of the first solution (even if it's the easiest one and it
works) because it is kind of
"communication configuration" problem and we integrated CAROL in JOTM so
that it can take in charge
that kind of stuff and let JOTM "communication-independent".
but I don't know if the second solution is possible from CAROL point of
view.
What do you think about that?
thanks for the help,
jeff
p.s: if you need more info to analyze the problem, I can send you stack
traces and JOTM and CAROL
debug logs
