Hello Kito,

About the script upgrade mechanism. We'll try to place all possible future schema changes in release SQL scripts / recommendations (if will have ones).
But in case of a upgrade impossibility you always have a SystemView Export/Import JCR API mechanism which can helps to make a porting of a data. 

 

Does the export/import work for the portal itself (i.e. users, portal pages, etc.) or just the JCR?

 

In V2, portal pages, navigations and portlet preferences are stored in JCR.
So, a full JCR export of the system workspace will save your portal configuration.

Users, however, remain outside JCR (database or ldap).
