[exoplatform] RE: Re: database changes

Peter,

Thanks for the info. So, do you anticipate any more schema changes for 2.0 (that won’t include an upgrade script)?

2008/3/22, Kito D. Mann <kmann@xxxxxxxxxx>:

Hello,

Hi, glad to hear you again!

I'll talk about JCR persistence here.

How stable is the database schema right now?

After JCR v.1.6 the database structure is unchanged.
But in 1.7 we had changed a value of STORAGE_DESC field in JCR_XVALUE table (now it's a storage_id from configuration, was abs path to a BLOB file).
There are no the database structure changes in 1.8 and we have no plan to do that in next 1.9.

But I have to notice that we had changed a ACL logic in 1.8, and replace exo:accessControllable nodetype on exo:privilegeable and exo:owneable. That may cause a problems of 1.7-1.8 compatibility in some cases of inherited ACL.

I'd like to know whether I can count on configuration changes persisting between different releases…

We may change database structure in 2.0, IMO. The compatibility will be covered by SQL scripts manipulation recommendations (was for 1.7).

Regards, Peter.
