In step 5, I get this error:

I've installed the settings.xml and modified it, as in step 4, using the
maven2 that I've installed in the local directory as defined in step 1.

One question about the layout of the directories.  I'm not sure about
the text "v2.x" on that page, floating between two lines.  Is the layout
to have

${exo.directory.base}/projects/v2.x

and then the files acquired from SVN are under that directory, as in

${exo.directory.base}/projects/v2.x/exo-portal/

as an example?
