inter portlet communication

Hello,
      i want to developp portlets which inter communicate. I have found a
library (portlet-messaging-2.4.jar ) which provides
this kind of service and seems to work with exo (
http://www.doc.ic.ac.uk/~mo197/portlets/portlet_messaging/index.php)
But I have been told that exo could make this kind of communication without
this library. I don't find how to make it.
Is there any documentation or sample of it?
