[clif] Deployment failure?

Greetings.

I have newly discovered CLIF, and am exercising a number of scenarios to 
determine if this is the tool I want to build a performance lab around. 
CLIF seems to be head and shoulders above the other open source tools 
available, and I am really excited about it.

However, when I try to deploy to a remote host, I am getting an 
exception. I've searched through all of the information I can find, and 
am now stuck. I would really appreciate any suggestions anyone might 
have. Details follow.

Error: Deployment Failure
       org.objectweb.clif.supervisor.api.CliffException: Deployment
       aborted (can't deploy a Clif server in Fractal seed clif1)
       at 
org.objectweb.clif.deploy.CliffAppFacade$DeployThread.run(clifAppFacade.java:574)

At the same time, I see this exception on stderr in the terminal where I 
started clif-console:

I have disabled the firewall on both machines. (Earlier I could not get 
the server on the remote host to connect because ports were being 
blocked.) Using wireshark, I looked at the traffic on ports 1234 and 
1357 (CLIF defaults for search-agent and pegboard), and I am very 
surprised to see that there are NO packets addressed to my remote host.

Console
CLIF 1.2.2 (console-Linux download)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (kernel 2.6.18-53.1.14.el5)

Remote Host
CLIF 1.2.2 (server download)
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5 (kernel 2.6.18-53.el5xen)
Server started with command: ant -Dserver.name=clif1 server
